Princess Kate and William are a "more natural fit" than Prince Andrew to live at a royal residence, a royal commentator has claimed.
The Prince and Princess of Wales moved to the four-bedroom Adelaide Cottage in the summer of 2022, after living in Kensignton Palace for several years.
However, Prince Andrew, 64, lives in a sprawling 30-room grade II listed house Royal Lodge in Windsor, with seven bedrooms.
His ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, continues to live in the property, despite divorcing the Duke of York in 1996.
Unlike Kate and William, Prince Andrew's children are grownups in their thirties, with husbands and children of their own.
Princess Beatrice, 35, lives in an apartment in St James's Palace with her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.
Meanwhile, Princess Eugenie, 34, splits her time between the UK and Portugal with her husband Jack Brooksbank.
Therefore, Prince Andrew's daughters are not living in his 30-room manor house.
In contrast, the Prince and Princess of Wales's three children are aged 10, nine and six respectively, and living at Adelaide Cottage with Kate and William.
Writing in The Times, royal commentator Kate Mansey said: "The Prince and Princess of Wales are adamant that they are happy in nearby Adelaide Cottage, although they would be a more natural fit for the Lodge."
This comes amid King Charles's crunch talks over whether or not the Duke of York should be allowed to remain at Royal Lodge, despite stepping down from royal duties in 2019.
Mansey added: "The King knows that blood is thicker than water but his responsibility to protect the monarchy and everything it represents comes first.

"If Andrew gave up the lease for Royal Lodge — or sold it back to the Crown Estate — it could be let to another private tenant provided they pass security checks."
Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six, attend Lambrook School, a stone's throw away from Adelaide Cottage.
Royal Lodge would only be a 15-minute drive away from the school, which would be perfect for Kate's three children.
