It's so amazing to get to work with your best friend — just ask Jenn Sherman, of Peloton, and Pam Sunshine, who are the co-founders of the Sunny & Jenn lifestyle brand.
The pair got their breakthrough moment on TikTok in 2023 when they started to share stories about their friendship — and even went on to host Q&A sessions, fashion check-ins and food showcases.
"It’s been a blast. We are having so much fun! We don’t really know what we are doing, but we are laughing along the way trying to figure it all out," the pair, who have been friends for 38 years after meeting through a mutual best guy friend, exclusively tell Morning Honey about becoming internet sensations.
The duo had no idea they would become public figures.
"The idea came to us after our video of the two of us being stopped on the street went viral on the @ClassofPalmBeach TikTok page," they recall. "It was crazy and it all happened very fast! Neither of us even had TikTok accounts at the time, so we would have never seen it! We both have 21-year-old daughters who woke up one morning to a viral video of their moms being asked what we were wearing on the streets of Palm Beach during a girls' trip that we took. We were totally shocked and had no real understanding of why or how!"
Now, the ladies have become a "must-follow" for moms, best friends and fashion enthusiasts alike, offering relatable content on parenthood, midlife and more.
As for what makes them successful, they share: "Our authenticity. 100 percent. We are not trying to be anything other than our true selves and we keep things pretty light hearted. It’s not that serious, and we just have fun with our content. We believe it shows. We don’t sugar-coat anything — what you see is what is really happening.There is really nothing that we are shy about — if we are doing or feeling it, we are talking about it, too!"
"We hope that women of all ages are inspired by what they see in us. We talk a lot about the importance of our mental and physical health and wellness journeys, and we are very open and honest when we speak to our community. Everyday isn’t easy. Everyday isn’t filled with rainbows and unicorns and we get into it. We are both young at heart and spirit and we are not letting this aging thing get the best of us! Having fun and doing the things that bring you joy are a huge part of who Sunny and Jenn are, and we put it out there for all to see," they continue.
Though it might be challenging to work with a bestie, they don't believe there's "any downside" to their partnership. "We are very much on the same page when it comes to our work schedule and we both have other day jobs that are a priority for both of us. One of the best parts are the memories we are creating and the laughter that never stops when we are together creating content. If we weren't having so much fun, we can guarantee you that we wouldn’t be doing it! One of the only challenges that we deal with is time management. As we already mentioned, we both have other busy careers and we are both moms and wives. Making time for it all can be overwhelming at times, but so far we have made it work," they explain.
Sherman, who was Peloton's very first cycling instructor, knows what it's like to grow a fanbase on social media, but she admits it didn't "come easy or naturally for me."
"It was and still is at times, a struggle for me, to keep up with posting and staying on top of the trends and the technology. Thankfully, I have had help from my kids when I really needed it. Consistency in posting has been one of the struggles for me, but I have definitely come a long way over the years from where I started," she shares.
Ultimately, Sherman and Sunshine are just grateful to experience new things together.
"Our bond runs deep as we have been best friends for 38 years. We met while in college and have been through so much together. From our younger, single days running around New York City together, to walking down each other’s aisles at our weddings, to having babies, to raising children of the same age together, and living about 10 minutes apart from one another for the last 25 years, we have been through it all. We have so many common interests. We love to travel together, we love to shop together, we love working out together, we both love food and we love trying new restaurants! Most of all we love to laugh, which we do plenty of," they share.
As for what's next, Sherman and Sunshine are just going with the flow.
"We are hoping to start putting ourselves out there more and more, whether it be to start making various appearances at events or aligning ourselves with brands that we love. Keeping the content consistent and coming up with fresh ideas for new content is also a major component to growing our platform, and we will continue to make that a priority for our followers," they note. "We both love to travel and to see the world and we are great traveling partners. We would love to make travel content a bigger part of our platform. A successful podcast would be the ultimate bucket list item for Sunny and Jenn, and we hope to see that goal realized at some point!"
They conclude: "If our videos are making you smile, we are doing something right. We are just two best friends out here trying to live our best lives and we love sharing all of our adventures with our followers. The response has been overwhelmingly great, and we continuously hear from women, especially those in our age group, that are having a blast following along with the antics of Sunny and Jenn."
