Arkansas caught fire in the second inning of its College World Series showdown against SEMO, scoring seven runs. During a break in the action, Arkansas head coach Dave Van Horn pulled back the curtain on the Razorbacks’ red-hot bats.
“We got a couple of big hits there and turned that into a really big inning,” Van Horn said. “I’m just proud of our guys. We gave a little bit of it back to them with a couple of walks and a big hit. It seems to have settled down but who knows what’s going to happen.”

Arkansas’ electric second inning was highlighted by Ben McLaughlin’s three-run homer over the left field fence, which gave the Razorbacks a commanding 8-0 lead. It was McLaughlin’s eighth home run this season.
As Van Horn mentioned, Arkansas did not hold on to its massive lead. In the third inning, SEMO retaliated with four runs. SEMO didn’t slow down, piling in another four runs in the top of the fifth inning to even the game at eight runs.
Dave Van Horn and Co. will look to rediscover its offensive rhythm after failing to score since the second inning. Arkansas failed to win its Regional last season. The Razorbacks last reached the College World Series in 2022.
