Convicted felon Trump could be banned from nearly 40 countries: report

As a convicted felon, Donald Trump's travel options have whittled down substantially.

While he prepares to appeal and awaits his sentencing on July 11 — Trump could be banned from entering 37 countries including Canada and the U.K.

These countries maintain strictures that prohibit people with criminal records from crossing into their borders.

The 45th president, who also happens to be the presumptive Republican nominee for president, may have to seek a special accommodation in order to be able to take such trips.

On Thursday, the former president was found guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records in an effort to bury an alleged 2006 affair with porn star Stormy Daniels in order to influence the results of the 2016 election.

The potential ban on Trump could be especially sour since as president, he imposed a sweeping ban of certain African and Middle East countries.

When he came into power in 2017, Trump signed a 90-day executive order blocking any refugees and travelers from seven Muslim-majority countries including Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen from entering the U.S.

He also capped the number of refugees coming into the country from 110,000 to 50,000.

There was outcry calling the cruel, inhumane, and violating international law.

Two years later, the former president also put in place restrictions of individuals coming from China, Macau, and Hong Kong from entering the U.S. when the pandemic was raging.

China is one of the countries with a policy that conducts character assessments for anybody pursuing a visa. That background check would include a criminal one and flag any felonies, according to The Independent.

Some of the countries Trump may also be blackballed from traveling to include close American allies such as Israel, Canada, the U.K., Ireland, and Australia among many others.

The Independent produced an alphabetical list of the 37 countries that could turn Trump away from traveling now that he's become a felon.
