On Saturday, Angel Reese will don custom kicks for her first showdown against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever in the WNBA. The sneakers are Barbie-themed versions of her signature shoe with Reebok.

The shoes are bright pink and have unique Barbie branding printed across each shoe. Additionally, the custom-made Reeboks are lined with pink sequins. The “Bayou Barbie” has been off to an excellent start at the next level.

Through six games with the Chicago Sky, Reese is averaging 11.0 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game while shooting 37.3% from the field. Reese has carved out a starting spot on the Sky and is averaging 28.5 minutes per game.

“It’s been great,” Reese told ESPN of her early weeks as a pro. “Just being able to affect the game in different ways, understanding the transition and just giving myself grace and being patient with everything. I’ve been able to have fun out there and grow every game.”

Reese was the first rookie since the Atlanta Dream’s Rhyne Howard in 2022 to record five consecutive double-digit scoring games to start her career. Sky general manager Jeff Pagliocca couldn’t be happier with Reese’s start to her rookie season.

“Not [getting] lost in moments being too big, or these crowds or the pressure or the stress and still being able to stay calm, I think that’s the most impressive thing about Angel Reese,” Pagliocca told ESPN. “She really wants to be great. She is not interested in being good. And she knows that it’s going to take time; she knows she has a lot to learn. I see nothing but a sponge that is super motivated to improve.”

“She’s not scared, and fear can really slow people down from growing,” Pagliocca said. “I spent 20 years in the NBA watching fear destroy people. And it’s OK. It’s part of life. But people that can look in the mirror and want help and seek out help, you’ve got a chance to be successful. And I think she fits in that mold.”

Reese has proven in the past she’s not afraid of the moment. In her final game at LSU, Reese tallied 17 points and 20 rebounds in a losing effort against Iowa. On Saturday, Reese will have a chance to exact revenge on Clark.

The Chicago Sky and Indiana Fever will face off at noon ET on Saturday. The game will be broadcast on ESPN. The Sky will enter the highly-anticipated showdown with a 3-3 overall record while the Fever are currently 1-8.
