PSV Eindhoven star says £50k-a-week Man City player is ‘one of the fastest people in the world’

PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko has said that one Manchester City player is unbelievably quick.

In his latest season for PSV, the Belgian appeared in all but one of their games in all competitions, scoring 14 goals and supplying 14 assists in 48 matches.

Now though, the 21-year-old has been sharing his thoughts on one of his international teammates, who has now completed his first season in the Premier League with the Citizens.

Speaking in a recent interview with The Athletic, Bakayoko had this to say about his international teammate – Jeremy Doku.

He said: “He’s faster than me. But he’s perhaps one of the fastest people in the world.”

This isn’t the first time a player has highlighted Doku’s pace, as Kylian Mbappe said this on the matter back in 2021.

He said: “Recently, I was speaking with my father about a player who impressed me from the stands – because I was not playing – because of his speed qualities, that is Doku, at Rennes.

“In 5 years as a professional, I have never seen someone from a standing start demonstrate so much power.”

Doku’s had a strong start to life at City

City signed Doku during the previous summer transfer window from Rennes in a deal worth a reported fee of £55m.

In his debut season at the Manchester club, the winger scored six goals and delivered 10 assists in 43 appearances across all competitions.

As well as his pace, the £50k-a-week attacker showed how tricky he can be on the ball, as he ended the campaign with more carries into the penalty area (147) than any other player in the league and the second-highest total of successful take-ons (87).

With all of that in mind, it’s clear that the summer recruit is a real talent and someone we feel could become a key player for City in the foreseeable future.
