Some 270 Madrid fans stranded at airport after flight doesn't depart

Some 270 Real Madrid fans started their journey to the Champions League final in London on Saturday with a major disappointment as their charter flight didn't take off.

According to broadcasters Telecinco, the plane was supposed to take off early on Saturday but it had a breakdown.

The fans reportedly paid €1,095 ($1,188) each for the round trip and demanded an alternative means of travel in good time. It initially remained unclear whether they would be able to make it to the game against Borussia Dortmund.

Telecinco said that the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport in Madrid was already prepared for 90 additional flights this weekend due to the Champions League final.
