How Manchester United could line up for 2024/25, including Raphael Varane replacement and £60m arrival

Manchester United are set to undergo a series of changes this summer in the transfer market, here’s how the XI could look in August.

This summer represents a new era for Manchester United as it’s the first summer under Ineos rule. Hopes are high, but there is some work to do in order to strengthen the team so that next season can be much better than the one we have just seen.

Heading toward the transfer window, several positions require attention with four set to be a priority at Old Trafford.

It is thought that centre-half, left-back, central midfield and up-front can all be expected to be reinforced, while the right-wing may also be due for an addition.

So, as the links begin to heat up, here’s a potential XI Erik ten Hag could field next season, with three additions we’d love to see happen.

Potential Manchester United XI for 2024/25 including new signings

This summer, every fan will have a dream list of signings and we imagine that the decision-makers at Old Trafford will have the same as they bid to build a strong squad.

In goal, there is little to report as Andre Onana is sure to be starting between the sticks. However, where there might be movement is on the bench, with Altay Bayindir potentially leaving.

Moving into defence, there can be no debate that Diogo Dalot should be starting at right-back. On the left however is interesting, with it being a position which United want to strengthen. If fit, Luke Shaw starts, but a potential arrival like Milos Kerkez could have him playing for his spot.

At centre-half, there is set to be a revamped group with more than one player likely to arrive. Lisandro Martinez starts on the left without a doubt, but his partner is up for grabs. We’ve gone with Leny Yoro who is absolutely perfect to replace Raphael Varane. Although it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Jarrad Branthwaite or Aaron Anselmino arrive as well, price depending.

In midfield, Ineos is tasked with finding Kobbie Mainoo a partner, and they might look no further than Sporting Lisbon’s Morten Hjulmand who would be the defensive midfielder needed for the 19-year-old to thrive.

Ahead of these two in a double pivot, Bruno Fernandes will still be in the team, as there is little chance United sell despite recent reports about his agent. That being said, an addition like Desire Doue could be very welcome.

On the right, the arrival of Michael Olise for a reported £60m could be funded by sales of Mason Greenwood and potentially Jadon Sancho. While Antony also would likely be let go if there were interested parties.

On the left, Alejandro Garnacho starts after earning his place ahead of Marcus Rashford during the course of this season, but the Englishman could bounce back.

Finally, while a striker is desired this summer, it is unlikely that it’ll be as a first choice, which leaves Rasmus Hojlund starting.
