"90 pc works under Panaji Smart City project completed": Goa CM Pramod Sawant

Panaji (Goa) [India], June 1 (ANI): Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant conducted an inspection of the infrastructure works under the Panaji Smart City Mission on Saturday and said that ninety per cent of the works under the project had been completed as of May 31.

"We have come here to inspect the Panaji Smart City, Panaji Municipal Corporation, and PWD. We gave a deadline of May 31 for Panaji Smart City project, and around 90 per cent of the work has been completed," Goa CM told ANI.

The Chief Minister further said, "We have developed the utility and gutter systems separately so that the situation during floods can be improved. We have used all the resources that we got from the central government to develop Panjim as a smart city."

Earlier on Friday, Panjim MLA Atanasio Monserrate conducted a site inspection of the ongoing smart city works in Panjim.

During the inspection, the MLA stated that 90 per cent of the major work is completed and the remaining will be completed during monsoons.

IPSCDL has been formed to bring about the development of smart urban infrastructural facilities and projects for Panaji City.

Smart City is not universal but city-specific. It provides smart infrastructure and enhances the quality of life for its citizens. The focus is on sustainable and inclusive development.

A smart city goes beyond the use of digital technologies for better resource use and lower emissions.

It means smarter urban transport networks, upgraded water supply and waste disposal facilities, and more efficient ways to light and heat buildings. (ANI)
