Lake Mary (Fla.) High On300 2026 quarterback Noah Grubbs announced his commitment to Notre Dame on Saturday.
The blue-chip passer chose the Irish over the other programs in his Top 10 in Auburn, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Florida, Texas A&M, North Carolina, Nebraska and UCF.
The 6-foot-5, 195-pound Grubbs recently called his future head coach Marcus Freeman and said, “I want to let you know after all the visits and all the spring practices I went to, Notre Dame was the only place that left a special place in my heart. I’m ready to wrap my head around one school and one school only. I respectfully ask if you will take my commitment to Notre Dame.”
Freeman said it would be an “absolute honor.”
With that, the four-star Grubbs becomes commit No. 2 for the Irish in the 2026 class, joining receiver Dylan Faison.
The Irish impressed from the beginning
Grubbs attended Notre Dame’s home game against Ohio State back in September and Freeman made a beeline over to the talented Sunshine State passer.
He said “we got you here, let’s keep you here.”
ND is doing just that.
Grubbs private quarterback coach Baylin Trujillo told On3 “that was very impactful” and a moment that stuck with Grubbs through his entire process.
“That was before Noah got big. It was a cool moment.”
Grubbs goes in-depth on his commitment
As Grubbs told Freeman, he made the spring rounds to places like Michigan, Miami, Notre Dame, North Carolina and Alabama. Everything kept coming back to the Irish.
“The tradition,” Grubbs said. “The atmosphere. Obviously the history. The prestigious school that it is.
“Also the thing I picked up on that not a lot of people pick up on, there are only 8,500 people that attend Notre Dame. There are no sororities, no fraternities, no distractions outside of football. You’re there to get your work done academically and you’re there to get your work done on the field.
“And that’s exactly what represents me.”
Quarterbacks coach Gino Guidugli and offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock led the charge in recruiting Grubbs.
“Obviously with Denbrock and what he’s brought with past quarterbacks shows he knows how to develop the quarterback position and he’s sent guys to the NFL,” Grubbs said.
“Them three combined, Denbrock, Gino and Freeman are about their quarterback and have to feel a certain way about their quarterback. To play under them is something special and a dream come true.”
Grubbs has big ambition in South Bend.
“I want to bring it back to exactly where it was and be a National Championship team and I want to bring a National Championship to Notre Dame.”
What the Irish are getting in Grubbs
As a sophomore, Grubbs threw for 3,670 yards and 49 touchdowns playing against some of the Sunshine State’s best competition. The On3 Industry tabs him as the nation’s No. 9 quarterback and No. 106 prospect overall.
“They’re getting a kid that studies, lives, eats, breathes football,” Trujillo said. “That’s all he cares about.
“They’re getting an alpha kid whether that’s on the field, weight room or in the classroom. He’s a battle tested kid.
“He’s going to lead Notre Dame to a National Title. He’ll start as a true freshman or red-shirt freshman. He’s not coming in just to join a good quarterback room. We know right now Notre Dame has a good quarterback room. If you look at the last two classes they’ve gotten top quarterbacks.
“Noah is coming to take over the quarterback room and lead Notre Dame to national prominence again. They have had top-five recruiting classes the past couple years and he wants to lead them to a top five national program and hopefully lead them to a National Title.”
