Prince Andrew is possibly set to be removed from the Royal Lodge as King Charles III reignites his efforts to kick the disgraced royal from the opulent mansion. The monarch has reportedly "been stunned" by his younger brother's "refusal" to leave and rejection of his royal commands.
"It's Brothers at War, to be honest," royal expert Stephanie Takyi shared. "Charles and Andrew haven't had the closest of relationships. According to the papers today, Charles is trying to evict Andrew from the Royal Lodge, where he's lived since 2004, and he's trying to get him to move into Frogmore Cottage, where Harry and Meghan previously were."
Andrew was given the "jewel of the royal residential portfolio" by his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, in 2004, two years after its previous occupant, Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, passed away. At that time, the Duke of York was a senior, working royal in his mother's court, and represented the U.K. abroad as a Special Representative for International Trade and Investment, a role he was given by the Tony Blair government in 2001.
The prince, 64, fell from grace in 2019 when Virginia Giuffre stepped forward to tell the world about her alleged experiences as a victim of s----- abuse by the Duke when she was 17 at a Jeffrey Epstein property. A "disastrous" Newsnight interviewthat November led Elizabeth II to banish her rumored favorite child from public life, and later strip him of his military honors. He is also not allowed to use his HRH style in public, and Charles III has not altered his mother's decisions.
"Apparently, Andrew is refusing to go," Takyi added. "He doesn't want to leave. He's made it his home. He's lived there for 20 years. But you see, the upkeep of Royal Lodge costs £400,000 a year."
With Andrew no longer working for the Crown, such a sum is having to be kicked up by the King for both his "black sheep" younger brother and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, to "live it up" in a huge residential compound.
"He thinks it's a pile of s---. Harry and Meghan's old stomping ground is not something the Duke of York feels like he is worth living in. Also, Frogmore is known as the place where the royal rejects are banished to within the royal family, so you can be sure His Royal Highness is peeved thanks to his champagne tastes."
"If Andrew doesn't move, it is going to affect what the King does financially for Prince Andrew because he's got no income," Takyi pointed out. "He gets an allowance from his brothers. So if Charles is asking him to move out and he doesn't want to, he will have to take those precautions."
