'Best night of my life' - Jude Bellingham reacts to winning Champions League

By Sean Walsh

Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham couldn't hold back the tears following Saturday's Champions League final win against Borussia Dortmund.

Los Blancos prevailed 2-0 at Wembley thanks to second-half goals from Dani Carvajal and Vinicius Junior to secure their 15th European Cup.

Bellingham had a quiet game but still came up with the assist for Vinicius' late clincher, and speaking to TNT Sports post-match, he admitted this was an extremely emotional moment in his career.

"I've always dreamed of playing in these games," Bellingham said. "You go through life and there's so many people who say they can't do things, but days like today remind you why [you keep going]. It gets a bit hard at times and you wonder if it's worth it, but night's like tonight make you realise.

"I was alright until I saw my mum and dad's face there! There've been nights where they could be home by seven o'clock and they're doing trips at 11 or 12 at night to take me to football. And my little brother's there who I'm meant to be a role model for. I can't put it into words, the best night of my life."

When asked if this had been the perfect season for him, a determined Bellingham replied: "I think it's got to be up there, we missed out on the Copa del Rey so that's the only disappointment I suppose! There's always many more years to try and get that one but I can't have dreamed it much better than this.

"I'm so grateful, honestly. Teammates, staff, my family, this is a massive group effort. I just can't believe it."

Madrid had also clawed back their La Liga title from Barcelona this season, with Bellingham winning the competition's Player of the Season award.
