Hunter Hines gives Mississippi State the early lead over Virginia with three-run homer

In the winner’s bracket of the Charlottesville Regional, Mississippi State and host team Virginia are in a heated battle. The Cavaliers were able to take an early 2-0 lead, but less than an inning later, the Bulldogs responded back in a big way.

In the top of the third, with two outs and two on, Mississippi State slugger hunter Hines delivered a crushing three-run home run to give his ball club an early 3-2 lead. Hines’s shot had some serious velocity and distance to it as the exit velocity was measured at 110 MPH with a distance of 443 ft. Since taking the 3-2 lead, Mississippi State has added another run in the top of the fourth inning. The Bulldogs currently lead the Cavaliers 4-2 in the winner’s game of the Charlottesville Regional.
