Fourteen injured in bus crash in northern Germany

Fourteen people have been injured in a head-on collision between a car and a bus in the northern German city of Wismar, police said early on Sunday.

The 35-year-old driver is in critical condition while his passenger suffered serious injuries, according to police.

The two vehicles collided head-on after the car drove into oncoming traffic, though the cause of this was initially unclear, according to the statement.

The driver was taken to hospital by helicopter. The 31-year-old passenger and the 35-year-old bus driver, who was slightly injured, were also brought to hospital, police said.

Three passengers on the bus suffered serious injuries while eight people were slightly injured, it said.
