Liverpool eye cut-price Leeds United transfer as Anthony Gordon makes Anfield admission

A round-up of the latest Liverpool news as Anfield chiefs eye a cut-price transfer for Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville and Anthony Gordon has an Anfield claim.

Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville ticks all of Liverpool’s boxes

Liverpool are interested in a cut-price transfer for Crysencio Summerville after Leeds United lost in the Championship play-off final. That is according to Ben Jacobs, who claims that the Whites may now have to accept bids in the region of £30-40m for their 22-year-old forward.

Summerville impressed Liverpool in the Championship as the Anfield club explored possible wide, attacking targets. His performances even convinced the Reds that the Dutchman ticks every one of their boxes. Now, Leeds may also have to sell for less than they ideally wanted.

Only Blackburn Rovers’ Sammie Szmodics (27) and Southampton star Adam Armstrong (21) out-scored Summerville (19) in the Championship this term. He also offered the Whites nine assists during 43 regular-season games. Summerville scored once in three play-off fixtures.

Newcastle United star Anthony Gordon admits Anfield is ‘top level’

Newcastle United star Anthony Gordon admits playing at Anfield is ‘top level’ amid Liverpool exploring his transfer. The Everton product claims the atmosphere created on the red side of Stanley Park is second only to St James’ Park and especially loves, ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’.

Gordon has only been in the visiting squad for two trips to Anfield in his senior career. He is also yet to secure a point on his trips to Liverpool for Everton or Newcastle. But the 23-year-old influenced his first goal at Anfield with an assist when the Magpies lost 4-2 this January.

Anfield could soon be Gordon’s home stadium, though, as David Ornstein reported this May that Liverpool ‘really like’ the Newcastle forward. He even has admirers at Manchester City and a host of teams. But the allure of Anfield could now help Liverpool in any transfer battle.

“Other than St James’, it’s Anfield – by far,” Gordon told Channel 4. “I think because I’m from the city, I grew up watching it. But I just think before the game when they sing, ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’, it’s top. It’s top level.”

West Ham United star Mohammed Kudus is ‘definitely’ on Liverpool’s radar

West Ham United midfielder Mohamed Kudus is ‘definitely’ one star on Liverpool’s radar for a transfer. That is according to TBR Football’s transfer expert Graeme Bailey, who exclusively told Rousing The Kop that the Reds have been doing their due diligence on the 23-year-old.

But it is unlikely that West Ham agree to sell Kudus this summer as his release clause is not active until next summer. The Hammers will hold off any assaults as much as they can over the upcoming off-season. But the release clause will make a transfer more feasible in 2025.

Kudus got Liverpool’s tails up after scoring eight and assisting six goals across his first term in the Premier League. He played 33 times under David Moyes and made another 15 outings in all competitions. The Ghana ace ended the term with a total of 18 goals and seven assists.
