'Soon': Leeds United player drops hint on future after Ally McCoist predicted he would leave club

Leeds United are expected to sell a number of key players this summer but one mainstay under Daniel Farke has dropped a hint over his future with a post on Instagram.

The likes of Crysencio Summerville, Willy Gnonto and others are expected to attract interest ahead of the summer window. Jon Newsome predicted those two, along with Ethan Ampadu and Dan James, could go.

Paraag Marathe has made it clear that The 49ers need to sell a few players in order to balance the books and The Championship’s Player of the Season, in Summerville, is the one most-likely to leave Elland Road.

But there is also a feeling of concern regarding Georginio Rutter’s future, who has become a favourite at Leeds after a difficult first six months. He had a hand in 26 goals for Leeds during the 2023-24 campaign.

The Frenchman was in tears at Wembley as Leeds were beaten in The Championship play-off final, and given Leeds were not promoted, there was a fear that Rutter may be tempted to leave for pastures new.

Rutter took to Instagram though, having remained silent on his social channels since Southampton beat Leeds for a third time during the 2023-24 campaign.

Georginio Rutter drops hint on Leeds future with Instagram post

Leeds of course, will be desperate to keep the likes of Rutter and Archie Gray. Fans are expecting to lose the likes of Summerville and Gnonto and possibly one or two others, but losing Gray or Rutter is a blow.

Not because they are any better than Summerville or Gnonto, but because they are the favourites among supporters. Marathe did not completely close the door when recently asked about a possible sale of Gray.

But Rutter seemed to rule out any potential exit from Elland Road with a post on his Instagram, telling the fans that he would “see you soon”. Surely suggesting that he will be staying put in Yorkshire this summer.

He said: “Hello Leeds fans, a few days have passed but still as much disappointment, the objective was not achieved despite a superb season where each of us gave our maximum. Thank you for your support throughout the year see you soon. MOT.”

Ally McCoist recently predicted Rutter would leave Leeds

Speaking last week, Rangers and Scotland legend McCoist was discussing the future of the signing from Hoffenheim and said that he could see Rutter joining a top-six Premier League side, such is his quality.

McCoist said that he thinks Rutter is capable of joining a top-six side: “I’m not sure it’ll be one of the top six but I see him getting a move to the Premier League. Whether Leeds have to sell is a different issue.”

But it does seem that Rutter could stay put and given there are a lack of reports suggesting any interest in him, might be a sign that the Frenchman could remain the club’s attacking heartbeat next season.
