Report: Liverpool target would prefer to stay at Leeds this summer despite Premier League interest

Leeds United have received a potential boost as the summer transfer window starts to get underway, with one player keen to stay at Elland Road.

Daniel Farke will be braced for some significant departures after Leeds were beaten in the play-off final last weekend, with many fans probably expecting the likes of Crysencio Summerville and Willy Gnonto to move on.

Leeds should be amongst the favourites to secure promotion at the second time of asking next year however, so that may help convince some players to give the Whites one more season.

And it does seem that one of those being linked with a move away is happy to stick around.

Archie Gray would prefer to stay at Leeds

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, writing for Give Me Sport, Archie Gray would prefer to stay at Leeds despite a raft of interest from Premier League clubs.

Gray enjoyed a breakout season in the Leeds first-team, largely impressing at right-back. Given that he has been someone many have spoken about since he was 15, it is hardly surprising that plenty of sides are admirers of the teenager.

Jacobs notes that Liverpool, Arsenal, West Ham and Brighton are all very keen on Gray and have been tracking the 18-year-old for some time.

However, Gray’s preference is to stay at Leeds this summer. A sale could reportedly still happen as the club look to raise funds.

Leeds have already been linked with a move in this window which would hint that Gray may get more opportunities in his preferred midfield role should he stay next season.

Whites already eyeing potential right-back signing

According to reports, Leeds are interested in Chelsea youngster Alfie Gilchrist, who mostly featured as a right-back when he played for the first-team this past year.

Gilchrist was a stalwart at centre-back for the under-21s, so there would be a question mark over where he would play if he did sign, but many Leeds fans are ready to see Gray get his opportunity in the middle of the park.

And providing assurances over that would surely only help Farke convince Gray to give Leeds one more chance to get themselves back to English football’s top table.
