Arvind Kejriwal returns back to jail

Srinagar:

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal surrendered at Tihar Jail on Sunday, June 2, and is now back behind bars in connection with the liquor excise case. Kejriwal had previously been granted bail by the Supreme Court, which expired on June 1.

“We want to thank the Supreme Court for granting Arvind Kejriwal bail for 21 days. During this period, he campaigned for several parties within the INDIA alliance, as this election was not just about one party but about protecting the Constitution of the country. We respect the judiciary, so Arvind Kejriwal has surrendered on the scheduled date,” stated Delhi Minister Atishi.

Before returning to jail, Arvind Kejriwal, accompanied by his wife Sunita Kejriwal and other Aam Aadmi Party leaders, paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.

Following this, he visited Hanuman Temple and addressed AAP workers at the party office.

Kejriwal had been granted interim bail to campaign for the Lok Sabha elections. Although he sought an extension of his interim bail, a Delhi court reserved its order and postponed the matter until June 5.
