J&K becoming drug haven: 2 former security force porters arrested with over 2 Kg heroin in Rajouri

Two suspected narcotic smugglers have been apprehended in Rajouri, a border district in Jammu and Kashmir, with over 2 kg of heroin valued at over Rs 10 crore in the international market, officials reported on Sunday.

Sajad Hussain from Thandi Kasi village and Fateh Mohd from Chitti Bakri were arrested in Parran village, Chingus sector, by a joint team of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and the Border Security Force (BSF) on Saturday evening, the officials stated.

The arrested individuals, both residents of the border area, have a history of working as porters for the security forces. Officials noted that their familiarity with the region’s terrain had placed them under surveillance due to suspicions of their involvement in narcotic smuggling.
