What Arteta now plans to do with Kai Havertz next season if Arsenal signs a new striker

Mikel Arteta has reportedly planned out what to do with Kai Havertz next season if Arsenal sign a new striker in the summer.

The Gunners have outlined their need for a new centre-forward for some time, with Arsenal this week strongly linked with a move for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, who scored 18 goals in all competitions this season.

Yet signing a striker will bring up question marks over what happens to Havertz, who this year has seen his best football come from leading the front line, with the German named as one of our players of the season.

Yet Arsenal have seemingly already planned what they will do with the former Chelsea man next season.

Arsenal to keep using Havertz has a striker even if new forward is signed

According to Football Transfers, Havertz will still be used as a no. 9 next season by Arsenal, with a new striker expected to be signed to bring in competition for the Germany international in the new campaign.

With Havertz scoring eight and assisting another seven in 18 appearances this season as a striker, it makes sense why Arteta is keen to keep using the 24-year-old in the centre-forward position for next season.

Compared to Arsenal legend Alan Smith by Simon Jordan, Havertz retaining his spot as Arsenal’s spearhead in the attack could come with a lot of benefits given how effective the attacking midfielder can be in the role.

And with more competition in the position expected to come in this summer, Havertz’s form could go up another level in an attempt to keep his spot in Arteta’s starting XI for next season, where a Premier League title charge will be a must.

Havertz could relish with new attacking competition at Arsenal

Competition can make or break a player, something we have seen firsthand at Arsenal this season in regard to David Raya and Aaron Ramsdale, with the Spaniard coming out on top in that particular contest.

And for Havertz, the versatile attacking midfielder could relish with new competition in the attack at Arsenal, with the German already showing Arteta and fans he is a more reliable option than the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah.

Indeed, Havertz will want to be Arsenal’s leading man for next season, and if competition like Sesko is signed, the German could unlock a new aspect to his game that could take his forward-play another level.
