Willy Kambwala thinks one Man Utd player is just ‘too good’, says he’s ‘proud’ when fans sing his name

Willy Kambwala could be an excellent player for Manchester United in the future.

At just 19 years old, Manchester United will be hoping he follows the meteoric rise of fellow academy graduates Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo by establishing a starting slot in Manchester United’s first-team squad.

There is a long way to go, but he’s showing promising signs. When he has played, he’s looked wise beyond his years and is only going to get better.

It helps when you have talented teammates. One of which Kambwala thinks is ‘too good’.

Willy Kambwala on Kobbie Mainoo

Kambwala has enjoyed playing with some huge names in the Manchester United squad. The likes of Raphael Varane and Casemiro have won everything there is to in football, but it’s a fellow academy star that Kambwala has major praise for.

In an interview with BackOfTheNet, Kambwala was asked about the Liverpool FA Cup win, and his immediate thoughts after seeing his teammates perform in such a big game.

He gave a lovely answer, stating: “I’m a player, but first of all I am a supporter. I am a fan. When I see my boys, my brothers shining, I am the first one who’s going to clap for them.

“I’m the first one that’s going to be happy for them. When I see the level that Garnacho is now, how Kobbie is just too good, and how Amad is able to take the opportunity, I will always be the first one that is happy. Singing with the fans when they sing their names – I’m so proud.”

He gets it, doesn’t he?

Willy Kambwala’s journey is inspiring, we want him to succeed

Despite being just 19, Kambwala has suffered already in his footballing career. After making the move to Manchester United in October 2020, he then suffered an eleven-month injury layoff just weeks later.

However, the Frenchman came back fighting, and just four years later – he’s in and among it with the first team.

Kambwala was also asked if for one moment he thought that the injury setback could get the better of him and prevent him from being successful.

He said: “In my head I couldn’t accept that, so I said to myself, “You have to make it. You don’t know what might happen or what will happen, but you have to make it. Nothing else will do.”

He seems to have his head firmly screwed on. Let’s hope it carries him to have a massively successful career at Old Trafford.
