Denny Hamlin doesn’t want to see the spring race in Richmond potentially be moved to Mexico City. Last month, Larson reacted to the news of the possible move that could happen next year.

“Yeah, hate that,” Hamlin said on his Actions Detrimental podcast. “I certainly hate that for certain biased reasons from my perspective. It’s my home track, but you can’t argue the fact the fans haven’t turned out. Richmond is one of our highest-rated markets when it comes to what market watched the NASCAR race this weekend. Richmond is always in the top five.

“…NASCAR has made the proper updates to the rack and fan experience. The fan experience there is really really good. Did they do all the things they did for Phoenix? Probably not, but I’ve seen bigger crowds at less nice tracks. I’m not really sure what it is we got to do to get them out there, but this is kind of what happens if people complain about your on-track product at Richmond, which they’ve been doing for quite some time. …It’s always gonna be the first to get cut.”

Jordan Bianchi of The Athleticreported a deal between NASCAR and Mexico City is “close” for the 2025 season. The last time NASCAR was in Mexico City was in 2008 with the Xfinity Series. It’s been since 1958 that NASCAR has helped a Cup Series points race outside of the United States.

Denny Hamlin shows love to North Wilkesboro Speedway

Along with sharing his thouhgts on Richmond Raceway, Hamlin gave his thoughts on North Wilkesboro Speedway, the home of the NASCAR All-Star Race. Hamlin finished fifth in the race and enjoyed his expereinced driving on the track.

“I thought it was really, really good,” Hamlin said, regarding the track. “It had consistency, from top to bottom, certainly we were able to move up, move to the middle, to the bottom. It had options, for sure. I thought it raced as good as any repave we’ve ever seen, truly. It just seems like it has some variable banking, especially through one and two, that it’s — the very bottom lane is, let’s just pretend it’s flat. You’ve got the next lane in the middle, which has got a little more camber to it. And then the top lane, that’s got even more. So the higher up you run, the more momentum you’re going to have on the exit, but you can run lower, cut distance and get beside the person. So I thought it created great racing.”
