Kentucky vs. Indiana State in Lexington Regional set to start at 7:30 ET

@UKBaseball

No. 2 Kentucky vs. Indiana State has dealt with a delay this evening due to weather in the area around Kentucky Proud Park. However, the postseason matchup in the Lexington Regional now has a new projected start time for tonight.

Per the latest from those at KPP, the Wildcats and Sycamores will start at 7:30 p.m. ET. That’s the projection so long as no other circumstances impact that estimate within the next half hour to 45 minutes.

The schedule had this matchup starting this evening to begin with. A weather delay and then another 30-minute delay due to lightning, though, has since pushed it back even further into the night.

Kentucky, the host of the regional, needs just one victory tonight or tomorrow to advance and host a Super Regional. They earned that with winning their first two games against Western Michigan on Friday and then Illinois on Saturday.

In turn, Indiana State would require a pair of victories over the second-seeded Wildcats to move on after this weekend. Still, it’s a familiar place for them after the last few days after losing their opener to Illinois. That required them to escape elimination against the Broncos on Saturday and in a rematch versus the Fighting Illini earlier on Sunday, which they did with 6-4 and 13-2 wins respectively.

Kentucky or Indiana State could have a major moment tonight in the first of two potential matchups in the Lexington Regional. That’s after we now know that we will be getting a game tonight with one back on the schedule to begin in the next half hour or so.

More on delay of Kentucky vs. Indiana State in Lexington Regional

No. 2 Kentucky and Indiana State were supposed to finish off the Lexington Regional tonight and potentially tomorrow. However, weather in the bluegrass has put the start time of their first matchup up for Sunday up in the air.

The first pitch for the postseason game between the Wildcats and Sycamores was already to be determined due to a weather delay. Now, with lightning striking within distance of Kentucky Proud Park, the contest won’t start for at least another half hour as they evaluate the conditions.
