Mission Viejo (Calif.) five-star cornerback Dijon Lee is set to announce his commitment later this month on June 28.
Before then, he’s taking official visits to each of his five finalists. He opened a monumental stretch of his recruitment this weekend with an OV to Washington. The Huskies aren’t at the top for the 6-foot-3 defensive back, but Jedd Fisch and his staff had the chance to make an in-person splash over the past couple of days.
Earlier this week at the On3 Elite Series, an educational seminar discussing the new era of NIL and navigating life after football, Lee told On3’s Chad Simmons that Alabama and Georgia are the two programs he has in mind as he enters June.
“It’s not about who I met with last, it’s about what I did with them,” Lee said when asked about the Tide and the ‘Dawgs. “Like building a connection with them, seeing if I vibe with them. Because if I’m going to be at the school for the next three to four years, I want to have a great vibe with the coaches and players. So I just see how that goes whenever I’m at those schools.”
Coaching, playing time will factor in to Lee’s decision
Lee has logged multiple visits to Seattle before his official, but a bulk of his communication with Washington took place when former head coach and new Alabama skipper Kalen DeBoer was in charge. Regardless, he was complementary of Fisch, as coaching will be a major factor in his decision.
“It definitely comes down to the coaching,” Lee said. “We’ve actually been doing that a lot lately. Like, which place can I get the best coaching at. Georgia — I’ll probably get top-tier coaching because of two coaches there: T-Rob and Donte. And then at ‘Bama, he’s a great coach. One of the best in the business. So I know at those two places, I’m going to get the best coaching.
“Washington has a great coach. Texas has a great coach. Texas A&M, (Jordan Peterson) just put a couple of DBs in the league from Kansas. So they all have great coaches.”
Georgia (June 7) is up next for Lee, with Texas (June 12), A&M (June 14) and Bama (June 21) to follow. Soon after, he’ll announce his college decision. He says playing time will also factor in to where he calls home at the next level.
“I don’t even know yet, man. It’s a hard decision,” Lee said. “But we’re gonna break it down and get to it. Like, depth chart matters, too. Because if a team has two returning corners and they’re sophomore or freshmen, they’ve still got a lot of time left. Not saying that I won’t go in and beat them out, but I’ll bet on my odds somewhere else if they have two senior that are going to the league next year.”
Lee is the No. 30 overall prospect and No. 5 corner in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the top-ranked player in California.
