Mike Tyson 'being monitored' as Jake Paul fight at risk of falling through after postponement

Mike Tyson may 'never be cleared' by doctors to fight Jake Paul after the controversial bout was postponed at the weekend.

YouTuber Paul and Tyson were scheduled to step into the ring together next month in an officially sanctioned fight.

The bout was heavily criticised when it was first announced given he three-decade age gap between them both.

New concerns were raised last week when Tyson required medical attention for an ulcer flare-up while on a plane.

Jake Paul and Mike Tyson's fight has been postponed

The 57-year-old's representatives said at the time that he was 'doing great' to try and play down the seriousness of the incident.

However, the fight's promoters announced at the weekend that the bout had been postponed indefinitely with Tyson unable to train.

"During a follow up consultation on Thursday with medical professionals on his recent ulcer flare up, the recommendation is for Mike Tyson to do minimal to light training over the next few weeks and then return to full training with no limitations," read the statement.

"Both Mike and Jake are in agreement that it is only fair to ensure that both athletes have equal training time to prepare for this important match and are able to compete at the highest level.

"The health and well-being of athletes is our top priority, and we fully support Mike in taking the necessary time to allow him to perform at the level he expects of himself."

It's been suggested that a new date for the fight will be announced later this week.

However, World Boxing News claim doctors 'may never clear Tyson' due to fears his stomach ulcer.

There's fears that the stomach ulcer could leak to his abdominal wall and physicians could advise Tyson to retire for good.

Mike Tyson will be monitored by the Texas Department of License and Regulation

The Texas Department of License and Regulation (TDLR) have not confirmed whether the fight being officially sanctioned will be changed following the postponement.

TDLR Communications Manager Tela Mange said that they will be closely monitoring Tyson's well being.

“TDLR is aware of media reports regarding an episode involving Mr. Tyson," he said.
