Wisbech swimmers shine at Junior Fenland League in Huntingdon

Wisbech Swimming Club made it two wins from as many meetings in the second round of the Junior Fenland League at Huntingdon.

Up against West Norfolk, St Neots and Mildenhall they came out on top with a points tally of 140.

The team were in fine form achieving 32 personal best times from the 44 races.

On the night there were 20 first-place finishes, with Lilly Wright (4) Holly Smith (3) Jacob Hicks (3) Adam Chuchra (2) Marcus Valente, Race Elmer, Esmai Smith, Morgan Arthur, Luke Wilson, Zac Dhamani, Shay Connolly, all winning their events as well as success in the Squadron Relay which was the final event of the night.

Wisbech move onto the third round in June which they are hosting.

A week later, the club had 35 swimmers in action at the Fenland Open Meet, hosted by March Marlins at Whittlesey.

Between them, they had a total of 148 swims and there were 82 personal bests achieved with 15 first places, 13 second places and 15 third places.

There was a further success with Isabella Burton winning the trophy for the top performing 14-year-old girl, and Holly Smith and Lilly Wright were equal and shared the trophy in the 11-year-old age group.
