"You will be"... Rasmus Hojlund sends message to Man Utd-linked ace who lit up European Final, it's awful news

Rasmus Hojlund sends a message to Giorgio Scalvini who has unfortunately received some very bad news.

Giorgio Scalvini is an Italian centre-back, who has been linked with a move to Manchester United this summer.

Hailing from Atalanta, the 20-year-old has been particularly impressive in the Serie A this season but showed the world what he was all about in the Europa League final as Gian Piero Gasperini’s side emerged victorious over what would have been Xabi Alonso’s invincibles.

But such as the Italy international finished the 23/24 campaign on a monumental high, that quickly turned into an immense low.

Man Utd linked Giorgio Scalvini suffers ACL injury

After their famous European Cup win, Atalanta unfortunately suffered a defeat to Fiorentina in the Italian first division, with La Dea losing 3-2. But that wasn’t the biggest loss of the night.

Scalvini suffered a knee injury in the final minutes of the game – which has now been confirmed as a really bad one, an ACL injury that will see him miss Euro 2024.

The 20-year-old was substituted in the 84th minute, leaving the pitch in an immense amount of pain, aided by two of the Atalanta medical team. He hurt his knee attempting a tackle.

Atalanta then confirmed to the Italian media outlet, Gazzetta, that Scalvini had suffered an ACL rupture to his left knee, and is now set to undergo rehab. The club later posted on X: ”We’re all with you, Giorgio.”

Rasmus Hojlund sends message to Giorgio Scalvini

Manchester United forward and former teammate of the Italian centre-back Rasmus Hojlund posted to Instagram to send his love to his friend in a time of need. He wrote: “My bro. You will be back stronger.”

It really is terrible news to see such a young talent sustain such a career-defining injury, particularly after the European masterclass he produced against Bayer Leverkusen.

We wish Scalvini all the best in his rehabilitation and hope to see him on the pitch again as soon as possible.
