Sittingbourne man charged with theft after Peacocks, Poundland and Asda in Sittingbourne and Sheerness targeted

A suspected thief has been charged after more than £1,000 of goods were stolen from several High Street stores.

Items including medicinal products, cosmetics, clothing, cleaning items, and confectionery were taken from shops including Asda, Superdrug, Peacocks and Poundland in Sittingbourne and Sheerness.

The thefts took place over a two month period between March 12 and May 21.

Officers examined CCTV footage and arrested a 52-year-old man.

Jason Bowers, of London Road, Sittingbourne was spotted entering an address in the same town on May 27 when he was detained and charged with eight counts of theft.

Bowers appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court where he was remanded to a hearing at the same court on Wednesday, June 12.
