A grammar school has kept its “Outstanding” Ofsted rating 12 years after its last official inspection.
Invicta Grammar School in Huntsman Lane, Maidstone, received the highest grade across all five brackets as the school went through the official check-up – the first time since 2012.
Ofsted was impressed by staff and students alike and the relationship the two have within the school as well as highlighting the education, safeguarding, and extra-curricular activities on offer.
The report said: “The school offers an outstanding level of education.
“The curriculum is highly ambitious and meticulously crafted. Careful attention has been paid to pupils’ starting points and the knowledge pupils need before moving on to new learning.
“Teachers introduce new learning in a thoughtful and logical order, providing clear and precise explanations. Short recaps of prior learning help pupils consolidate what they already know.
“Additionally, exciting trips, including many international visits, provide lifelong memories. From Year 7, pupils receive comprehensive careers guidance.
“As pupils move up through the school, time is taken to support transition to ensure pupils are prepared to take their next steps in education, employment, or training.”
The report did indicate the last inspection had been more than a decade ago but explained this was due to the school being classed Outstanding before.
The school takes care of more than 1,625 students – mainly female – with 372 being in the sixth form which is mixed.
