Ukraine and Estonia will sign a bilateral agreement on security commitments soon, says the head of the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Margus Tsahkna at a press conference with his Ukrainian counterpart, Dmytro Kuleba.
"We have decided to sign a security agreement with Ukraine. And it will be signed soon," the minister said.
According to Tsahkna, Estonia will annually allocate 0.25% of its GDP for military aid to Ukraine under the agreement.
"I think this is a very meaningful indicator of our readiness to help Ukraine bear this burden. This is an important amount," he added.
Security commitments
As of today, Ukraine has signed security agreements with more than 10 countries. They are valid for 10 years. The content of the commitments varies from country to country, as it depends on the capabilities of Kyiv's partners. In general, the commitments guarantee assistance to Ukraine in the economic, defense, and other areas.
On May 31 alone, Ukraine signed agreements with Norway, Iceland, and Sweden.
