The Allies made the right decision by allowing Ukraine to use its weapons on Russian territory. But Kyiv will continue to work on expanding such use, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba says during a joint press conference with his Estonian counterpart Margus Tsahkna.

“I can confirm that our partners have made a very correct step by lifting the restrictions so that we can hit targets in Russia. This does not mean that we have carte blanche, some rules must be followed. We will continue to work with our allies to expand the use of their weapons,” Kuleba says.

He was also supported by the Estonian Foreign Minister, who said that his country's position is that Ukraine has the right to defend itself and hit targets in Russia.

“Dmytro (Kuleba - ed.) is right that the recent decision of the United States, Germany, and other countries is a move in the right direction,” Tsahkna adds.

Ukrainian Armed Forces strike Russia with Western weapons

Several NATO countries have recently decided to allow the Ukrainian Defense Forces to strike at Russian territory with Western weapons. The United States also allowed the Ukrainian Armed Forces to strike targets related to the offensive in the Kharkiv region.

Meanwhile, Germany, within the framework of the authorization, stated that Ukraine could theoretically shoot down the Russian occupiers' aircraft in Russian airspace with German Patriot air defense systems, and France, according to media reports, gave the green light to strike airfields in Kursk and Belgorod regions with SCALP missiles.

In turn, UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron has officially stated that Ukraine has the right to use British weapons to strike targets in Russia.

In addition, the Netherlands supports strikes on Russian territory using its F-16s. The country plans to transfer 24 fighter jets to the Ukrainian Armed Forces this year.
