'Evaluating offers': Player who Man City sold in 2023 is already available for transfer again - journalist

It has been reported that a player Manchester City sold in the summer of 2023 is already generating transfer interest from clubs.

A certain player might be surplus to requirements at Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City but for other teams, he would be their marquee signing.

For instance, when Raheem Sterling joined Chelsea ahead of the 2022/2023 season.

Several clubs now targeting player Man City sold last summer

The campaign before Sterling signed for Chelsea, he started just 23 Premier League games for City, as he was in and out of the team.

The Premier League winners are the gold standard in English football and as a result, their standards for any and everything are different to the rest of the pack.

It has now been claimed by journalist Rudy Galetti that a Spanish club tried to sign Aymeric Laporte for €7 million (£5.9 million) in the summer. However, the proposal was considered too low by Al Nassr.

Furthermore, the Saudi Pro League giants are “open to evaluating offers” for the former Manchester City defender.

In addition, more bids have arrived for Laporte in recent days, which are being evaluated.

Aymeric Laporte can still play in Europe

In our view, a player with as much quality as Aymeric Laporte should be playing in Europe.

While Laporte started only 11 league games in his final season at the Etihad Stadium, his class as a player remained undeniable and he remains a top player.

Despite playing in a non-European league, the 30-year-old was named in Spain’s 29-man squad for Euro 2024.

Several clubs lack a centre-back with Laporte’s experience, quality on the ball and winning mentality. As a result, it is unsurprising to discover that clubs are bidding to ensure they can sign him this summer.

Manchester City are not one of those clubs, with Manuel Akanji, Josko Gvardiol, Ruben Dias, Nathan Ake and John Stones all being top-class centre-backs and big characters.

Whether Aymeric Laporte decides to leave Saudi Arabia after one season of playing for Al Nassr is the question.
