Report: £35m Chelsea player is now attracting interest from Spain, Enzo Maresca's position is still unknown

One Chelsea player could be heading to Spain this summer.

Chelsea look set for a bit of a clearout, as several players continue to be linked to other clubs.

There has been talk about the likes of Ian Maatsen, Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah all leaving Stamford Bridge.

Maatsen has been on loan at Borussia Dortmund, so he was not part of Chelsea’s plans for the second half of the season, Gallagher has entered the final year of his contract and Chalobah is thought to be attracting interest from Manchester United.

Enzo Maresca, who will be hoping to be Chelsea manager for the next five years, could lose all three of those players this summer.

Enzo Maresca’s stance on Chelsea player

According to the Daily Mail, where Maresca stands with Maatsen is not yet known.

However, the left-back is still likely to be sold amid interest from clubs in the Premier League and La Liga, the same outlet claims.

Anyone who wants to sign Maatsen this summer will probably have to pay £35m for his signature.

The Dutchman has a £35m release clause in his contract, and it has been reported that Chelsea do not want to sell him for less than that.

Not much Enzo Maresca can do about Ian Maatsen

Even if Maresca wants to keep hold of Maatsen for the 2024/25 season, there is probably not much he can do because of that release clause.

Chelsea may also want to get rid of the Netherlands U21 international to help them stay in line with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules.

Unless the Blues sign a new left-back this summer, Marc Cucurella and Ben Chilwell are likely to be Maresca’s two men for the position.

Levi Colwill also showed that he can play there this season.

Cucurella could be perfect for the Italian, having played as an inverted full-back under Mauricio Pochettino. It is a tactic that Maresca has also used at Leicester.
