Adam Beaumont first home for Bishop’s Stortford Running Club at Hatfield Broad Oak 10k

Adam Beaumont was first home for Bishop’s Stortford Running Club at the Hatfield Broad Oak 10k.

He crossed the line in 33min 22sec and came second overall while Eilidh Malcolm was the club’s first lady home and eighth female overall in 43.40.

There were 86 members of team green and gold in action with championship points also up for grabs.

Junior member Harry Newman was first under-16 in 48.47 while Janet Howes, Rosemary Nugent and Jenny Brayshaw took first, second and third in the FV70 category in 1hr 59sec, 1:03.43 and 1:06.25 respectively. Marie Hockley rounded out Stortford’s age-group podium placements as third FV60 in 49.37.

Simon Dewhurst’s 59.45 was a 10k PB and his first time under an hour, Paul (Sid) Newton scored a second 10k PB of the month by 12 seconds in 36.48 and Paul Andrew earned a new PB with 53.14.

There were also course PBs for Serena Beresford (50.50) and Martin Howe (52.27) while Glen Malcolm raced his first 10k since 2019 and finished in 1:07.29.

Four Stortford members travelled north for the Edinburgh Marathon and had to contend with heavy rain for much of the race.

Vicky Simpson was first home for the club as she set a PB with a finish time of 3:14.48 and also came third in her age category.

Gary Jones was pleased with 3:31.48 given the conditions and Frances Iwaschkin stormed her way to 4:42.52, which was a PB of just under 28 minutes.

The contingent was completed by Rohit Dayama (5:41.07) while Jerry Piron completed the Edinburgh Half in 1:46.08.

Paul Newton was the first Stortford runner home and second overall at the recent Stort 5 & 10 at Cammas Hall Farm in Hatfield Broad Oak.

He clocked 1:06.58 over the longer distance and the club’s first female to cross the line was Sophie Barc (1:19.04).

Over the shorter distance, the fastest male and female Stortford runners were Peter Palmer (41.53) and Serena Beresford (46.10).

Hollie Londors took on the Great Manchester Run and finished the half marathon in 2:17.35. Marie Hockley secured a win in the FV60 category at the Great Baddow 10, completing the 10 miles in 1:27.54, and Matthew Coaker finished the Hitchin Hard Half Marathon in 1:46.13.

Meanwhile, Chloe Boyce completed the Ride100 cycling event in 7:32.44. She also received her London Classics medal as she has completed the Serpentine two-mile swim and the London Marathon over the last 3 years, doing an event each year.
