The MLS All-Stars will play against the top players from a league very close to home in the 2024 event.

Every year, there is a brief pause in the MLS season to celebrate the league's over-achieving players in the MLS All-Star Game. The squad consists of 12 fan-voted players, 12 players selected by MLS All-Star head coach, Wilfried Nancy, and two players picked by MLS Commissioner, Don Garber.

Instead of representing their respective clubs, the chosen players come together to represent Major League Soccer against an opponent. In the past years, the MLS All-Stars have played against some of Europe's top teams, including Arsenal, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich.

The 2024 matchup, though, features a team they have never lost to in the history of the MLS All-Star Game.

Who will play MLS All-Stars this year?

The MLS All-Stars will play the LIGA MX All-Stars in this year's edition of the MLS All-Star Game. After defeating the LIGA MX All-Stars in the 2021 and 2022 MLS All-Star Games, the top players from the MLS will look to extend their winning streak.

"It is a privilege to participate in the 2024 MLS All-Star Game for the third time. LIGA MX will bring together its best players to form a competitive team," said LIGA MX President, Mikel Arriola. "This will be another chapter of this sporting rivalry, which allows us to continue building a great partnership with MLS."

Although the rosters are not yet finalized, both sides will have to work around the 2024 Copa America tournament, which ends just one week before the MLS All-Star Skills Challenge and MLS All-Star Game unfold in Columbus, OH. If Lionel Messi and Argentina once again make the final, then the Inter Miami star might not participate in the MLS event.

The MLS All-Star Game kicks off on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at 8 p.m. ET.
