MLS All-Stars history against European teams

By Amanda Langell

The MLS All-Stars' history against European teams is full of narrow wins, crushing defeats, and not a single victorious penalty shootout.

For the last three decades, the MLS All-Star Game has highlighted the best talent in Major League Soccer. At first, the top players in the East faced off against the top players in the West, but starting in 2005, the MLS All-Stars exclusively met European teams in the yearly game.

From Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid to Manchester United and Arsenal, Europe's biggest clubs competed against the selected MLS All-Stars in MLS stadiums throughout the country. Although the match is technically a glorified friendly, it is still a unique fixture that brings the biggest clubs in the world to United States soil.

In the 16 matches between the MLS All-Stars and European teams, the results favor the visiting side.
