Report: Wolves now looking to sign 'amazing' £30m Liverpool player as part of Gary O'Neil shake up

Liverpool might fancy signing a number of new players this summer and Wolves could end up boosting the coffers by buying one important fringe player.

The Reds are all set for a busy summer window and fans are expecting to see new faces come in.

However, equally important for the Reds this summer is how they manage outgoings.

Thiago and Joel Matip are among the players already leaving, while the likes of Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz have been linked with big money moves away as well.

And according to a report from TeamTalk, goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher could also be on his way, with Wolves keen to take the Irishman.

Wolves want to sign Caoimhin Kelleher from Liverpool

TeamTalk’s report claims that experienced Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa could potentially be leaving the club and with that, Gary O’Neil has drawn up a list of replacements.

On that list is Liverpool star Kelleher, who is expected to be able to leave this summer if a suitable offer comes in.

Liverpool are thought to want around £30m to sell Kelleher.

The Irish stopper has played second fiddle behind Alisson for some time now and did a sterling job this season as the Brazilian got injured.

Indeed, Kelleher’s performances impressed, with former PL midfielder Don Hutchison lauding Kelleher and midfielder Harvey Elliott as being amazing.

“I don’t think there’s much in it to be fair. The last half a dozen games I’ve seen Liverpool play, they don’t look particularly solid. They’ve always given up chances,” Hutchison said.

“Kelleher is in great form by the way. Everyone talks about Alisson being a world class goalkeeper and the best but Kelleher has done some job. Even people like Harvey Elliott, I think he’s been amazing while Mo Salah has been out.”

Kelleher needs to move and be a number one

There is obviously a slight question mark over the future of Alisson Becker at the moment and Kelleher might be waiting to see how that plays out.

However, for Kelleher on the whole, he does need to move on and find somewhere where he can be the number one choice.

He’s waited patiently at Anfield, done the business when needed, and now deserves the chance at moving on to another club to be the main man.

A host of Premier League clubs, not just Wolves, would no doubt take Kelleher.

The £30m fee is a big ask. But in this day and age, it’s also not too bad for a top goalkeeper who has his prime ahead of him.
