Man Utd's summer transfer window predicted by Football Manager 24 includes £81m Serie A signing and Greenwood decision

Football Manager 2024 predicts Manchester United’s upcoming summer transfer window for the 2024/25 campaign.

Manchester United are set for a busy summer ahead in the transfer window, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his Ineos team set to take over the reins in regard to transfers.

But it really is anyone’s guess as to who they’ll get in. As always with United, a monumental amount of names will be linked, but only a few will come to fruition.

With it being anyone’s guess, how about we leave it to the ever-popular football simulator, Football Manager 2024 to have a go?

We simulated a save to see how the transfer window would go down – and here’s exactly what happened.

Gabriel Misehoury – free from Ajax

Manchester United doing good business and obtaining a player on a free? Yes, this must be a simulation. Erik ten Hag has raided his old club for 18-year-old attacking midfielder Gabriel Misehoury to come to Old Trafford. He’s yet to play a game for the first-team squad but is an exciting young prospect.

Marcus Thuram – £81m from Inter Milan

Ah. that’s more like it. A player that joined Inter Milan on a free just one year ago, where the Red Devils were interested, United have now just splashed £81m on Marcus Thuram. He did score 15 goals and assist 14 times as he helped Inter Milan to the Scudetto, so the price tag is somewhat justified.

Juan Musso – £1.4m from Atalanta

Manchester United enter talks with Atalanta… so they’ve signed Giorgio Scalvini? Well, not quite – Juan Musso will have to do. The 30-year-old goalkeeper was picked up for just £1.4m, perhaps Altay Bayindir to leave?

Aleksa Terzic – £12.5m from RB Salzburg

The fourth and final signing for the Red Devils is probably the most realistic, Ratcliffe has dropped £12.5m on Aleksa Terzic from RB Salzburg. Manchester United will need a left-back, what with Luke Shaw’s hideous injury record, and Tyrell Malacia’s at that. A good pickup.

Scott McTominay – £12.25m to Real Sociedad

Wow. Scott McTominay is deemed surplus to requirements for United and makes the move to the La Liga with Real Sociedad of all clubs. The real crime? The £12.25m Manchester United received for him, considering he had his best season yet in a red shirt.

Tyrell Malacia – £9m to Everton

Death, taxes and Manchester United making a loss on a player, even if he is a youngster signed for just £15m. Malacia didn’t play a single minute for United in the 23/24 season, and will seemingly not play a minute more. He’s off to Everton.

Donny van de Beek – £8.5m to Frankfurt

Donny van de Beek has finally been sold, and it’s the club he was on loan to, Frankfurt, who pulled the trigger. A real surprise given the fact his loan move was a disaster, but United won’t be complaining.

Amad Diallo – loan to Hertha Berlin

A huge surprise, Amad Diallo is sent out on loan once more, despite making an impact around Old Trafford, particularly towards the end of the campaign. It appears Ten Hag has more faith in Antony than the Ivorian in the Football Manager cyberspace.

Mason Greenwood – loan to Getafe

A big call, a Mason Greenwood decision has been made, and he’s off to Getafe on loan for another season! After a mightily successful campaign with the Spanish side, Mason decided it was so nice he’d like to do it twice. Bold choice not to cash in from the Red Devils.
