Donald Trump blamed president Joe Biden for the shooting of two New York City police officers by a South American migrant.

The officers were wounded early Monday in a shootout with a 19-year-old robbery suspect from Venezuela, who was also wounded, and the former president and recently convicted felon argued that Biden's immigration policies were at fault for the violence.

"Biden Migrant Crime is out of control and is ravaging America!" Trump posted on Truth Social. "Last night, two brave NYPD officers doing their job were shot by a Monster Illegal Immigrant who came here illegally from Venezuela last year and was living in a tax-payer funded migrant shelter."

The suspect, Bernardo Castro Mata, entered the U.S. legally in July 2023 through Eagle Pass, Texas, and had been living at a migrant shelter in the former Courtyard Marriott Hotel near LaGuardia Airport, police said, and he's suspected in a string of snatch-and-grab robberies in Queens.

"Crooked Joe Biden has trafficked in the worst people from around the world, many with heinous criminal records, and unleashed them into our communities," Trump posted. "Soros-funded DA Alvin Bragg should focus on keeping the streets of New York safe, but has instead wasted time and money engaging in a ridiculous political witch-hunt against yours truly. We must focus on finishing the wall, securing our border, and keeping our streets safe. MAGA 2024!"

Bragg's office secured the felony conviction of Trump last week on all 34 counts of falsifying business records to cover up other crimes, and the presumptive Republican presidential nominee has been indicted in three other cases that have not yet gone to trial.
