Owen Shroyer, a host for Alex Jones' Infowars, is among the Donald Trump supporters who has faced federal charges in connection with the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol Building. And he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge.

Shroyer has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn that plea on First Amendment grounds.

But on Monday, June 3, according to Kyle Cheney and Josh Gerstein of Politico, the High Court denied his request.

"The justices turned down Shroyer's case in a routine list of orders issued Monday morning," the Politico journalists report. "No justice signaled any dissent from the decision or commented on its rationale. Shroyer pleaded guilty last year to trespassing on Capitol grounds and was sentenced to 60 days in prison by U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly, a Trump appointee."

Cheney and Gerstein add, "Shroyer quickly vowed to appeal the sentence all the way to the Supreme Court, saying he had become a 'martyr for free speech.'"

Under Attorney General Merrick Garland, federal prosecutor for the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) filed charges against countless Trump supporters in the months after the Capitol riot.

However, the severity of the charges has varied considerably. And the charge that Shroyer pled guilty to was strictly a misdemeanor — not a felony charge.
