Ukrainian defenders struck a Russian S-300 anti-aircraft missile system located on Russian territory, reports Vice Prime Minister and Minister for the Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, Iryna Vereshchuk.

"It burns well. This is a Russian S-300. On Russian territory," the minister wrote.

She also reminded that the S-300 was struck in the first days following the authorization to use Western weapons for attacks on Russian territory.

Strikes on Russia with Western weapons

In recent weeks, several of Ukraine's allies have authorized the Ukrainian Armed Forces to use provided weapons for strikes on Russian territory.

Specifically, the United States has permitted the use of its weapons for such attacks. However, Washington has clarified that long-range ATACMS missiles are still not allowed to be used against Russia.
