ITV Love Island outrage as major tech mishap results in fans missing opening show

Love Island fans were left reeling after attempting to tune into the latest episode only to find the ITVX app had crashed.

Monday's opening episode of the series left social media fans in meltdown after missing the all-important introductory episode of the reality series.

Viewers were all set to "meet" the 12 new singletons arriving at the iconic villa to take part in series 11 of the show.

Maya Jama is once again hosting the series, which will no doubt see some explosive moments.

However, the drama started very early this year as fans weren't even able to watch the start of the show.

Hundreds instantly took to X, formerly Twitter, to fume about the mishap, with one asking: "WHY IS MY ITV CRASHING NO #loveIsland."

"@ITV what is going on the website/app is malfunctioning I have already missed 15 minutes of the start of the biggest event in Britain right now #loveisland," another added.

A third posted: "WHY IS ITV X NOT WORKING ON #loveisland DAY."

"Anyone else not able to access @ITV #loveIsland," someone else asked, while another admitted: "so the itv app is down, calm I’m going bed #loveIsland."

"WHY CAN I NOT LOG IN TO MY ITV ACCOUNT?!?!? #loveisland," another furious fan asked.

"@ITVX @ITV yall better fix your app it ain’t working at all??? #LoveIsland," added another. (sic)

About 20 minutes into the episode it seemed the app was working again and fans were able to watch the highly-anticipated new series.

The new batch of singles looking for love this year includes 24-year-old Harriet Blackmore, Ayo Odukoya, 25 and Patsy Field, 29.

The latter is hoping to raise awareness of Erb’s palsy, a condition which affects the nerves in her arm.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

Monday's show made history by airing simultaneously on ITV1, ITV2 and ITVX.

The series is reportedly set to be ITV's biggest yet, with the newly-revamped villa among the new features making a debut appearance.

The show's special spin-off series, Love Island All Stars, aired earlier this year, so fans haven't had to go too long without a fix of drama, romance and tears in the sunshine.
