Poland will allocate more than 3 billion zlotys, about $760 million, to strengthen cybersecurity in the country. The day before, the country's state media was subjected to a cyberattack, according to Reuters.
What preceded it
Last week, the Polish state news agency PAP was hit by a Russian cyberattack. Then an article about military mobilization appeared in the agency's news feed.
Later it turned out that it was not true, and the Polish authorities accused Russia of destabilizing the situation in the country.
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Digitalization Krzysztof Gawkowski said that everything pointed to the fact that it was a cyberattack controlled by Russia.
He also noted that Poland's intelligence services, including the Internal Security Agency, are conducting an investigation.
Poland's reaction
Poland will soon hold elections to the European Parliament. That is why the Polish authorities are on high alert to counter any attempts by Russia to interfere with the voting.
Gawkowski said that it is planned to allocate more than 3 billion zlotys for the Cyber Shield because Poland is at the forefront of the cyber war with Russia and faces the most attacks.
He said that on Sunday and Monday, Poland blocked several cyberattacks on critical infrastructure.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that the Security Service of Ukraine, together with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and partners from the EU, conducted a large-scale operation to expose an international group of hackers.
