Club holding meeting today over whether to sign £4m player from Leeds this summer - journalist

Roma’s new sporting director is due to meet with the Giallorossi hierarchy today in order to thrash out a deal for a Leeds United player, for a bargain £4.3m.

Last summer, Victor Orta’s relegation loan clause allowed eight key Leeds players to leave Elland Road without The 49ers being able to stop them or rake in any cash by selling them on a permanent basis.

Jack Harrison and Luis Sinisterra returned to the Premier League and Marc Roca went back to Spain with Betis. Max Wober, Brenden Aaronson and Robin Koch moved to Germany and two joined AS Roma.

Llorente had already spent six months at Roma before joining for a full season, and Rasmus Kristensen followed him to the Serie A giants. Llorente has gone on to play 54 times for Roma in his 18 months.

Nothing has been confirmed as to whether Roma are going to sign Llorente but reports state that the three parties involved have a gentleman’s agreement over a £4m move for Llorente to join permanently.

Roma sporting director to meet club over Llorente deal today

Now, Sky Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio posted an update on his website. He confirms that Roma’s new sporting director Florent Ghisolfi is flying in from Nice and the first order of business is Llorente.

The report claims that Roma want to close a deal for Llorente as the club’s first move in the summer window and it is now up to Ghisolfi as to whether he agrees to strike a permanent transfer for Llorente.

Llorente posted on Instagram earlier this week, hinting at a move to Roma as he “waits for excitement” ahead of a possible deal that sees him finally removed from the Leeds books and join Roma indefinitely.

Llorente could be first Leeds sale, who else joins him?

Crysencio Summerville is attracting interest from Liverpool, Chelsea, West Ham, Fulham and Bournemouth and is expected to be the club’s major sale of the window while Willy Gnonto wants to go back to Serie A.

Gladbach want Max Wober but not at the £14.5m fee Leeds are requesting, while Jack Harrison has the option to go on loan again. One other of Orta’s loan army can go on loan and it is likely to be Marc Roca.

Jon Newsome thinks Joe Rodon won’t be signed given the lack of promotion, and has predicted interest in both Ethan Ampadu and Dan James. Leeds are in for a summer of change with cash needed.
