Report: Newcastle have internally discussed signing 'ambitious' Leeds player alongside Jarrod Bowen

Newcastle United have internally discussed signing a Leeds United star alongside West Ham United’s Jarrod Bowen and a La Liga talent ahead of the summer transfer window.

Leeds chairman Paraag Marathe has already made it clear the club will have to sell players this summer in order to help with the credit card bill The 49ers have inherited since taking over from Andrea Radrizzani.

The chances are Crysencio Summerville will be sold, with Liverpool, Chelsea, Fulham, Bournemouth and West Ham reportedly keen while Crystal Palace could sign him to replace Michael Olise or Eberechi Eze.

Summerville had a hand in 31 goals and assists and won The Championship’s Player of the Season award, and The 49ers are requesting a fee between £35m and £40m to land the “ambitious” Netherlands winger.

Now, The Athletic deliver a report that says Newcastle are also interested in Summerville as they look to bring in a winger. He is one of three players Eddie Howe’s men have on their shortlist this summer.

Summerville on three-man Newcastle shortlist this summer

Indeed, the report states that Newcastle have actually discussed a move for Summerville internally ahead of a possible move this summer. The Toon are walking a tightrope in terms of their own Financial Fairplay.

They will need to sell players as well as buying them but there is a place in the side available for a player like Summerville, albeit on the right. Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes are excellent options on the left.

The Athletic say Newcastle are not solely after Summerville, with West Ham’s Bowen also on their radar as well as Athletic Bilbao and Spain star Nico Williams but Summerville is likely to be the cheaper option.

Which club is best for Summerville ahead of a crucial summer?

It is becoming increasingly likely that Summerville will leave Leeds and move to a Premier League club this summer. Liverpool and Chelsea are being strongly linked but the competition at both is enormous.

He’d struggle to start at Anfield or Stamford Bridge, so Summerville has to choose wisely. Fulham would be a solid move, if Willian leaves Craven Cottage while West Ham may need him if Bowen does depart.

Similarly at Palace, if Olise or Eze go with Premier League clubs eyeing the £60m duo. But Newcastle could just be the best club he could join that may allow Summerville to get a starting spot next season.
