Leeds United player comments on Cole Palmer's Instagram amid reports he could join Chelsea

Cole Palmer opened his England account as the Chelsea star continues a wonderful 2023-24 campaign at club level in a Three Lions shirt ahead of Euro 2024, and a Leeds United player has responded.

Bought by Chelsea for £40m from Manchester City, 22-year-old Palmer has proven to be one of the signings of the Premier League season as he produced a whopping 42 goals and assists during 2023-24.

It has seen Palmer work his way into the England squad, winning two caps from the bench before his first start for England on Monday night as Gareth Southgate’s men finally overcame Bosnia & Herzegovina.

England eventually took the lead when VAR ruled for a foul from a corner and with Harry Kane about to come on, Palmer assumed responsibility to score his first England goal from the spot at St. James’ Park.

The scoreline flattered England in the end, as Trent Alexander-Arnold and Kane got themselves on the score sheet and Chelsea man Palmer took to Instagram, underlining his delight at scoring his first goal.

It prompted a response from a Leeds player who has been linked with a move to Chelsea this summer.

Palmer is now set to win a place in Southgate’s squad for Euro 2024, and by the time he returns he could find that he has a new teammate in the form of Leeds United’s Crysencio Summerville in West London.

Summerville, also 22, is attracting the interested of plenty of Premier League clubs. The £40m-rated ace is on the lists of Liverpool, Chelsea, Fulham, Bournemouth and West Ham ahead of the summer window.

Crystal Palace are also keen as they look to replace Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise if they depart, while Newcastle have held internal discussions. Summerville posted on his potential future teammate’s post.

Chelsea would be the wrong move for Leeds star Summerville

While one reason that can be attributed to Summerville’s success this season is a drop in division and quality in The Championship, another can be that it is the first season where he’s been first choice.

Beforehand, he was a rotational option under Jesse Marsch and on the fringes under Marcelo Bielsa. Now, a key Leeds player and doing the no.10 shirt justice and his next club need to make him first choice.

To get the best out of him, Summerville needs to feel like the main man. At Chelsea, he is not going to be that given the amount of attacking stars at Enzo Maresca’s disposal, so he should look elsewhere.
