'Unreal'... Deuce Vaughn has been studying former Dallas Cowboy as he prepares to challenge for new role

The Dallas Cowboys are stuck in an offseason hole and the team could be looking at Deuce Vaughn to be their answer, he has been studying one former player to help.

America’s Team has been knuckling down with their offseason voluntary workout programs as they edge closer to mandatory minicamp.

Spring training gives the franchise an early opportunity to see how their roster is shaping up and what key areas still need to be addressed.

Mike McCarthy has a burning issue that the team will have to focus on during the OTAs

Moreover, the Dallas Cowboys still have an alarming problem on offense and they could be looking at an unusual suspect to answer their prayers.

Since the Cowboys made the business decision to cut Michael Gallup and save $9.5 million, the team has been without a clear-cut WR3.

The franchise did draft Ryan Flournoy in the sixth round of the NFL Draft but he may take a backseat position as he adjusts to life in the NFL.

Furthermore, Mike McCarthy may be hopeful that Jason Tolbert or KaVonte Turpin could make the jump in preseason and fulfill the role.

Deuce Vaughn emerges as a potential solution for the Cowboys at WR3

The Cowboys will be considering several preseason routes to investigate and Deuce Vaughn has now emerged as another option.

Vaughn was a sixth-round pick out of Kansas in 2023, registering 23 rushing attempts for 40 yards.

However, reports have confirmed that the running back could be converted into a slot wide receiver for the 2024 season.

The 22-year-old has been recording reps as a slot receiver during the latest batch of OTAs.

Vaughn possesses a small nimble stature as he stands at five-foot-five and weighs in at 176lbs.

Before the offseason, Cowboy Nation would not have thought that they could potentially see Vaughn line up as a wide receiver in 2024.

Jerry Jones has been cautious in free agency and McCarthy now must work with limited resources to fulfill the job of WR3.

The Cowboys have cap space to spend in free agency but Vaughn has been studying one former player

The Cowboys now have the $9.5 million cap space to play with in free agency but the coaching staff could persist with giving Vaughn reps for the role.

Additionally, Dallas Cowboys reporter RJ Ochoa has confirmed that Vaughn has been studying former player Cole Beasley.

“When I went upstairs and started watching… a guy that I watched was Cole Beasley,” the Cowboys Insider posted on X.

“Not a big guy in prowess but I mean, understood, his IQ of the game, seeing coverages, being able to sit down in the zones, being able to understand how to beat leverage… is unreal. I watched him this offseason and that’s one of the guys that I’ve watched a whole bunch.”

Beasley was a member of the Cowboys’ roster for eight seasons and was also equipped with a small figure (five-foot-eight).

Cole Beasley shines in 2016 before leaving the Cowboys for Buffalo in 2019

The former Dallas player produced his best season for the team in 2016, registering 833 yards and five touchdowns.

Vaughn has been and will continue to study Beasley’s tape whilst at the Cowboys and take inspiration to implement it into his own game.

Ultimately, this will be an option for the Cowboys and they will monitor Vaughn’s performances in training over the coming weeks.

The WR3 responsibility is up for grabs and the front office may still turn to free agency to answer the burning question.
