Arsene Wenger lands unexpected new job working with Arsenal and Premier League stars

Legendary former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is set to take on a new role, on top of his current FIFA duties.

Arsene Wenger never returned to management after leaving his post at Arsenal in 2018.

The Frenchman is the longest-serving coach in the club’s history, and the most successful. He first arrived in North London in 1996, and went on the guide the Gunners to three Premier League titles and seven FA Cup triumphs, as well as overseeing the 2006 move from Highbury Stadium to the Emirates Stadium.

His crowning glory came in the 2003/04 season, when Arsenal won the title without losing a single league match, earning their Invincibles nickname. Wenger has since explained why he believed his side to be capable of such a feat in the first place.

Since leaving Arsenal, Wenger has turned his hand to trying to improve the infrastructure of the game via his position within the FIFA organisation. Wenger is currently attempting to amend the offside rule, in a move which has been met with concern by some pundits, including Gary Lineker.

However, he is now set to take on another job. As reported by Football.London, the 74-year-old will soon lead a new undergraduate degree course as part of the of PFA’s Business School.

The course will be open to all PFA members, with a focus on helping current or recent academy players to find a means of progressing into senior positions within the game. This means that Wenger may well find himself working with players who are part of, or have just left, the Arsenal setup, as well as other Premier League youngsters.

Wenger developed a reputation in his time as Arsenal boss for developing young talent. Amongst many others, he was responsible for bringing the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Jack Wilshere through into first team football. Wilshere recently named Wenger as the greatest manager of all time.

Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta has made huge strides towards restoring Arsenal to the standing they held in the game in Wenger’s glory years. The North London club are now genuine Premier League title contenders once more.

Having worked under Wenger in his own playing days, Arteta will undoubtedly have adopted a number of the elder statesmen’s methods, and will certainly view Wenger as an inspiration and major influence upon his work.
