Report: Man City transfer target now expected to stay at Everton this summer

Manchester City could now miss out on one of their reported transfer targets for the upcoming summer window.

The Manchester club ended their latest season by winning a sixth Premier League title in seven years, in addition to the UEFA SuperCup and FIFA Club World Cup they won earlier in the campaign.

Now that another summer transfer window is close to opening, some behind-the-scenes details have emerged regarding one particular player that the Blues have on their radar.

A recent report from The Athletic said that Everton’s youth goalkeeper, Doug Lukjanciks, who has been linked with a move to City this summer, is “currently expected to remain at the club.”

Last month, it was reported that the Citizens are interested in signing the shot-stopper and are even willing to pay £10m to land a deal for him.

At the age of 16, the Englishman has made six appearances for Everton’s U18 side, but has only been able to keep one clean sheet and conceded seven goals in the process.

He’s also made two appearances for England’s U16s and the U17s.

City may have to wait to land a deal for Lukjanciks

Even though he hasn’t had that much experience, Lukjanciks must still have something about him that has caught City’s eye and has them willing to spend £10m to sign him.

Now that this latest update has emerged claiming that the teenager is likely to stay at Goodison Park for this summer period, it seems that the Blues may have to wait before getting the chance to add him to their ranks.

Moving forward, if a potential move for the young goalkeeper is off the table for this summer, the best thing City can do is keep an eye on him and see if Everton would be willing to negotiate a deal for the youngster in the future if he continues to impress.
