How Alexandro Bernabei is faring on loan at Internacional from Celtic

Celtic only have Greg Taylor on the books at left-back after Alexandro Bernabei left to join Internacional on loan earlier this year.

Overall, the Argentinian has made 28 appearances at the reigning Scottish Premiership champions since joining in 2022, notching one goal and three assists; nevertheless, he did struggle to nail a place down before heading to South America.

It is hard to pinpoint why things went the way they did for Bernabei at Celtic; however, the past is the past, and there was hope when he left that Edouardo Coudet could get his career back on track.

Still only 23 years of age, the former Lanus man still has time to develop, even if he is unlikely to achieve that at his parent club.

Now, let’s take a look at how he’s got on since moving to Brazilian giants Internacional for regular minutes.

Alexandro Bernabei’s frustrating start at Internacional

Despite excitement over his move, Bernabei has made just one appearance at his new club, though he has been on the bench eight times as an unused substitute [Transfermarkt].

His sole outing came against Bolivia Bolivian outfit Real Tomayapo in the Copa Sudamericana, where he was labelled “electric” by Brazilian journalist Guilherme Mirra due to his display.

In that case, it does seem strange that he hasn’t featured at all since, with that venture coming on April 11th – seven games have passed in that time with no involvement.

Either way, it would be nice to see things improve for Bernabei in his surroundings, which in turn, would increase Celtic’s chances of being able to sell him permanently.

Hopefully, he can kick on at Internacional and show some of the promise that inspired Ange Postecoglou to bring him to Glasgow.
